The Art of Becoming
to the Next Level
Invest in the work. Fund the process. Help build what’s next in Harlem.
What’s Next
Back the Kickstarter
Back the official Kickstarter campaign to fund the next level of The Art of Becoming—rehearsals, filming, post-production, and release. Choose a tier ($25 / $50 / $100 / $200) and help bring this chapter from stage to screen.
The Art of Becoming is more than a showcase—it’s a living development lab for original performance, film, music, and storytelling. Each piece you saw is designed to grow into a fully realized project: tour-ready, film-ready, gallery-ready, and community-ready. If you’re looking to support art with a clear purpose and a real pathway forward, you’re in the right place.
Below are the projects we’re actively expanding through capital fundraising, partnerships, and in-kind support. Each one has a next step—and the inspiration you felt tonight has a front row seat to supporting the next stage of these works and FYA Studios.
Embodiment of Echoes
What it becomes: a 10-minute filmed ballet + interactive public art/socialization installation.
Embodiment of Echoes is built for a cast of 15 and 40 hours of creation to complete a 10-minute ballet that we will film and transform into an interactive art experience. Imagine walking past an installation where the movement responds—the more people pass by, the more the ballet unfolds, revealing new layers in real time.
We’re seeking partners who love cross-disciplinary work—math/science institutes, arts museums, and Harlem-based visual artists—to help us shape the interactive component and bring it into public spaces where community, curiosity, and embodiment meet. If you want to help build the future of performance + public art, let’s talk.
Support this piece: Sponsor rehearsal hours • Underwrite cast pay • Partner on installation design • Provide filming support
We, The Creative Ones / One True Love
Need: $3,000 to market and advertise the video + poem + choreography.
This project is our ignition switch—designed to introduce new audiences to FYA Studios and build momentum toward opening Fearless Young Artists Studios in Harlem, NYC. With $3,000 in capital, we can run a focused campaign that increases visibility and turns attention into community.
Our marketing goal is specific: grow our email list, increase Instagram follows, boost YouTube views for the podcast + show, and drive pre-registration interest for the studio. If you believe artists deserve a home base in Harlem—and that good art should be seen—this is a powerful place to invest.
Support this piece: Underwrite ads • Sponsor content rollout • Offer media/PR amplification
Agreement (Still)
Need: $20,000–$35,000 to write, choreograph, and workshop Lifting a Burden (with Agreement Still with additional original music).
Agreement Still is an excerpt we’re expanding into a larger staged work: Lifting a Burden—a workshop-driven piece that blends Brit Hewitt’s original music with my poetry and playwriting, shaped through movement and story. This next phase is about building structure: dramaturgy, musical arc, choreography, and workshop refinement with a committed creative team.
The capital raised will properly pay artists for focused development time, capture proof-of-concept footage, and shape a workshop showing that supports our next steps—presenters, producers, and Off-Broadway pathways. If you’re interested in supporting new musical theatre rooted in truth and craft, we’d love to invite you in early.
Support this piece: Underwrite the workshop • Sponsor performing artists • Support rehearsal space + documentation
The Keeper & The Passing of Time
Need: $6,000 to run a marketing + advertising campaign.
This piece sits at the intersection of music, movement, and film—featuring the original music of Britt Hewitt and LaQuet Sharnell Pringle’s choreography. It's a perfect combination for small- to large-sized businesses seeking creative advertising. The capital raised will propel us to run a clean campaign that points audiences directly to Fearless Creative Advertising.
To do it right, we need an editor and a strategic marketing push that treats the work like the professional product it is—then run it as an ad with intention. If you love cinematic storytelling and want to help launch a new musical era, this is a smart, tangible investment.
Support this piece: Fund editing • Underwrite ad spend • Sponsor album-visual development
Oklahoma! — Contemporary Reimagining Lab
What it becomes: a rehearsal-rich developmental residency that scales toward an Off-Broadway production (ideal theaters include BAM, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Perelman Performing Arts)
Our mission is to honor the heart of Oklahoma! While reimagining how the story lands in the bodies, voices, and lived experiences of artists and audiences today—through rigorous craft, text investigation (as permissions allow), and movement that bridges scene → song → production number. This is renewal for relevance—built with respect, intention, and artistry.
To take what you saw in The Art of Becoming to the next level, we’d like to build a one-month, out-of-NYC residency with a 5-day/week, 8-hour/day schedule—so the cast and creative team can fully immerse ourselves in workshoping musical dynamics, staging language, and movement. We’re intentionally taking a “scale over time” approach: develop responsibly now, then grow into an Off-Broadway-sized production with resources that match the footprint (pending all licensing permissions).
Support this piece: Sponsor the residency • Underwrite artist pay • Provide housing/studio • Introduce Off-Broadway partners
